Painting for Paws - Mother's Day Edition

Join us at CHS for Painting for Paws! Stephanie from Sharp Shoppin' will be teaching class participants how to create and paint personalized sunflower bouquets. Classes are Tuesday, May 9th and Friday, May 12th. Classes will start at 6 pm. 

What to Expect: Sunflower Bouquets - Perfect Gift for Mom!
When you register for one of our Painting for Paws - Mother's Day edition classes, you will have a chance to customize beautiful sunflower stems, personalized with the names of your choice. This is a great gift for the mom(s) in your life- her children are her sunshine! Each stem is 10" long and the blooms are 4" wide. Each stem/bloom is $8 each. 

How to Register for a Class

• Select which class date you would like to attend and add it to your cart. (May 9th or May 12th) Spots are limited, don't wait! 
• Add the number of stems/blooms you would like to customize to your cart. If you have three names you would like to do, select three stems/blooms. Be sure to specify what names will be on each bloom! 

What does Painting with Paws support at CHS?
Proceeds from Painting with Paws classes will directly support important services at CHS like our Forgotten Felines program. To help prevent the overpopulation of feral (or wild) cats, Cascades Humane Society offers our Forgotten Feline program to Jackson County residents. The Forgotten Felines Program is a management plan in which feral cats in Jackson County are humanely trapped, evaluated, vaccinated against rabies, and sterilized by a veterinarian. The cats are then returned to their familiar habitats under the lifelong care of a caretaker.

The veterinarian who performs the surgeries for the Forgotten Feline program has recently retired. Because of this, we have had to reimagine what the program looks like and how it operates. CHS has always offered the surgeries and rabies vaccine at an extremely low price to the public, at a fraction of the actual cost. We have relied on the generosity of the public and their donations, as well as the sale of the cat nip pillows, to help offset the expenses. Unfortunately, we find that the donations are considerably less than what would cover the costs and the program is at a very large deficit.

With that said, we do want to continue to offer this service, as it is extremely important to us to help care for the free-roaming cats of Jackson. Attending Painting for Paws will help us to fund this important program and continue it! 

Extra Things to Know Prior To Arrival 

• Feel free to bring a small snack or refreshment to enjoy while you paint! 
• This class is beginners friendly and super easy! The class will be led by Stephanie Sharp from Sharp Shoppin'. She will walk you through all the steps to create your customized sunflower bouquets. 
• Pets are asked to stay home for this event, thank you!
