Kissing Ball Workshops are Back!

We are thrilled to announce that the annual Kissing Ball Workshop is BACK! This was such a nice fundraiser for CHS pre-pandemic, we couldn't not bring it back. The Kissing Ball Workshop is possible thanks to our friends at Arend Tree Farm.

Join us here at Cascades Humane Society for a holiday Kissing Ball Workshop! This makes such a fun evening with friends! The price is $40 per person and includes the supplies to create one kissing ball. Please click the button above to register online to reserve your spot!

What to Expect
Supplies to create one kissing ball include, but are not limited to:
-Styrofoam ball
-Greenery
-Ribbon

You are welcome to bring additional decorations if you would like! Please bring a pair of gardening gloves. Greenery is very sticky to work with!

What do the Kissing Ball Workshops support at CHS?
Proceeds from our 2023 Kissing Ball Workshops will directly support important services at CHS such as our Forgotten Felines program. To help prevent the overpopulation of feral (or wild) cats, Cascades Humane Society offers our Forgotten Feline program to Jackson County residents. The Forgotten Felines Program is a management plan in which feral cats in Jackson County are humanely trapped, evaluated, vaccinated against rabies, and sterilized by a veterinarian. The cats are then returned to their familiar habitats under the lifelong care of a caretaker.

We have had to reimagine how the Forgotten Felines program looks like and how it operates. CHS has always offered the surgeries and rabies vaccine at an extremely low price to the public, at a fraction of the actual cost. We have relied on the generosity of the public and their donations, as well as the sale of the cat nip pillows, to help offset the expenses. Unfortunately, we find that the donations are considerably less than what would cover the costs and the program is at a very large deficit.

With that said, we do want to continue to offer this service, as it is extremely important to us to help care for the free-roaming cats of Jackson. Attending a Kissing Ball Workshop will help us to fund this important program and continue it! 

Extra Things to Know Prior To Arrival 

• Feel free to bring beverages (including the adult variety) and snacks.
• This class is beginners friendly and super easy! The class will be led by Stephanie Sharp from Sharp Shoppin'. She will walk you through all the steps to create your customized sign/door hanger. 
• Please dress in clothing you don't mind getting messy! A limited number of smocks will be available.
• Pets are asked to stay home for this event, thank you!
