Hi Friend,

We wanted to fill you in on a heartbreaking situation. This week, Cascades Humane Society received a distress call from a guardian of 11 cats who had been evicted from their home. They found themselves with nowhere to go. Can you imagine the fear and confusion these poor cats must have felt? They were taken from the only home they ever knew and placed into cat carriers not knowing where they would end up.

Knowing this must be a difficult situation for both humans and cats, CHS jumped into action. We quickly arranged for them to arrive after hours so that we could help as soon as possible.

Upon arrival, our hearts shattered at the sight before us. The cats had been living in the carriers, in the back of a vehicle, for 24 hours. The carriers were in deplorable conditions - feces and urine covered. Some even contained two cats crammed inside. The stench was unbearable, and our staff immediately got to work providing relief and care.

Despite their suffering, these cats displayed nothing but love and affection. They greeted us with purrs and cuddles, reminding us of the unwavering love of animals. The cats ranged from 2 to 13 years old, each with their own set of health issues. As we placed them into the safety of their cages, many went directly to use the litter while others ravenously ate as much food as possible.

Can you imagine living in a carrier, being covered in feces and fleas, itching yourself raw, having a double ear infection, or broken teeth? Perhaps even a combination of these ailments? Then one day, all that gets better, you get to a safe place with a bed and a toilet, surrounded by loving people. It’s a new chance at life.

For these 11 cats, arriving at CHS marks the beginning of a new chapter! Each will receive the second chance they deserve. So far, the CHS medical team has performed numerous dentals with teeth extractions, bathed urine-soaked fur, cleaned and medicated ear infections, gave vaccines, implanted microchips, and spayed/neutered those who needed it. They have also tended to wounds on some of the cats, cleaning and treating them. CHS will continue to care for each of the cats, giving them whatever they may need in their time with us while they wait to be adopted.

But we can't do it alone. CHS Friend, CHS urgently needs your support to sustain this level of care. Every donation, regardless of size, makes a profound difference in the lives of these animals! A donation of just $20 could help change lives.

Your generosity keeps our mission of connecting animals in need with people who care alive. Thank you for being the voice and the hope for these 11 cats and each of the 1,200 animals that come through Cascades Humane Society's door each year!

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you.
